Choose by the desired result

Trim when you need a shorter time span. Mute when the whole audio track should be removed. Extract audio when you need an MP3 without the picture. These operations solve different problems and do not selectively isolate a speaker.

Check boundaries and sound

After trimming, play the opening and ending to avoid cutting a word or essential action. After muting, play the file with sound enabled to confirm silence. After audio extraction, compare duration and audible content with the source.

Keep context with the file

Use a filename that identifies the clip and operation. If removing sound makes a demonstration ambiguous, provide context in the place where you share it. A silent export cannot preserve an explanation that existed only in the audio.
