How to compress PDF files online without losing readability

A practical first-run PDF compression guide: keep the source, process a copy, compare size, and verify that the compressed PDF opens correctly.

Prepare a PDF copy

Keep the original PDF and identify the file you intend to reduce. If only one page is needed, consider extracting it instead of compressing a whole document that the recipient does not require.

Run and download

Open Compress PDF, add the PDF, and run the operation with the controls shown. Wait for the download to become available and save the resulting file separately from the original.

Verify before replacing the source

Open the downloaded PDF in a viewer. Check page count, orientation, small text, and any stamped or scanned areas. Compare its actual file size with the original and with your upload limit. A PDF that is already optimized may show little reduction, and compression cannot guarantee a particular number of kilobytes.
