Clean Text and JSON Before They Waste Your Afternoon
Distinguish paragraph cleanup from JSON formatting, and check whitespace, syntax, and application data rules before copying results.

Identify the input type
For ordinary prose, whitespace cleanup can remove repeated spaces and excess blank lines. For JSON, use a formatter and validator. Do not first strip spacing blindly from structured text because quoted strings can contain meaningful whitespace.
Inspect the parsed result
Compare keys, string values, arrays, numbers, and null values with the source. Valid JSON syntax means that parsing succeeded; it does not show that required application fields exist or that the data is correct.
Keep a reproducible example
Use non-secret sample data when debugging. Save the original example and the corrected result so that a change can be explained. Test the output in the application or API that will consume it before replacing a working configuration.
